About ELITMa

The ELIXIR Training Programme in Management (ELITMa) gives ELIXIR Node staff the skills, practical guidance and onboarding they need to plan and deliver Node activities.

Empowering ELIXIR staff members

The ELIXIR network has grown significantly in recent years, with several new Nodes and Communities joining. Supporting the planning and delivery of Node activities – coordination, training, service provision, infrastructure management, events and communication – requires new and existing ELIXIR members to have access to relevant skills, practical guidance and clear onboarding pathways.

ELITMa was established in 2019 to help meet these needs. Designed for ELIXIR Node staff, the programme brings together training on governance, data management strategy, strategic management, leadership, communication and other areas of research infrastructure management.

What you’ll find here

The ELITMa portfolio comprises ten modules at different stages of development. Some already offer online course materials on this site; others have been delivered as workshops or are planned for the future.

Each online module is made of short chapters with practical exercises, checklists, templates and real-world examples from the Nodes. You can work through a module from start to finish, follow a shorter pathway for your role, or go straight to the chapter you need.

By the Nodes, for the Nodes

Experts from across the ELIXIR Nodes develop and deliver ELITMa modules for the benefit of the wider ELIXIR community. Each module has a dedicated contact person at the ELIXIR Hub to help align its development with the strategic goals of the Hub and Nodes.

The programme is supported by the EU-funded ELIXIR-STEERS project and PeoplePulse, an internally funded ELIXIR project. Current work includes consolidating existing modules, developing online learning materials and finding collaborators for the modules that are still being planned.

Get involved

ELITMa grows through the people who contribute to it. If you’d like to help develop a module, contact Celia van Gelder (celia.vangelder@health-ri.nl). To write or improve content on this site, see How to contribute, and meet the people behind the modules on the Contributors page.

For the full programme overview, including every module’s leads and delivery history, see ELITMa on the ELIXIR website.
