ELIXIR Germany: differences between institutes

Node: ELIXIR Germany
Authors: Helena Schnitzer, training platform coordinator and liaison for RDM related questions
Topics: Starting point, Why strategy

When looking across partner institutes, it became clear that RDM is organised in different ways. Institutes differ in their available support structures, distribution of responsibilities and level of established RDM activities.

Some institutes have dedicated roles or established processes, while others approach RDM through different local structures. These differences include how responsibilities are assigned, how support is organised, and how RDM activities are coordinated and embedded within the institution. They influence how easily researchers can access support and how visible existing resources are within an institution.

Recognising these variations in organisational approaches, responsibilities and levels of RDM maturity is an important step towards developing approaches that are useful across the Node. Rather than assuming one solution fits all, understanding local contexts helps identify where common resources, coordination or knowledge exchange can provide added value.
