ELIXIR-GOBLET Train-the-Trainer - Extended Lesson Plan
This is a more granular version of lesson_plan.md, breaking each day down to the level of individual Parts and Challenges, using the real Challenge timings confirmed against the shared-notes document.
Methodology note - please read before using this
Only Challenge timings are measured, real data. Lecture/explanation durations for each Part are estimates, calculated from each Part’s word count in the handbook, scaled to fill whatever time is left after subtracting all Challenge time from the available window. This gives a defensible starting point for planning and for placing coffee breaks at natural stopping points - but it is not a measured fact. Adjust freely based on your own experience actually delivering the material.
Coffee breaks are placed at the natural Part/Challenge boundary closest to an even division of the day’s content - not at fixed clock times. This sometimes means segments between breaks are not exactly equal length.
Day 1 - [DD Month YYYY]
Total content: 150 min (56 min Challenges + 94 min lecture, estimated) across 3 breaks.

About the optional Challenge
Challenge - Recall a demotivating learning experience (3 min, marked optional/time-permitting in the source material) fits right after the third break, before “Strategies to improve motivation.” Running it pushes the day to end at 17:03 instead of 17:00 - which is exactly why the source material marks it optional: there is no slack left in the day to fit it in without going over. Only run it if the day is ahead of schedule.
Day 4 - [DD Month YYYY]
Session 4 proper: 135 min (30 min warm-up + 42 min Challenges + 63 min lecture, estimated), across 2 breaks. A third break sits at a fixed point, right before Combining All the Sessions - which is why this day only has 2 “natural boundary” breaks within Session 4 itself, not 3.

Where the extra 5 minutes for Session 4 actually came from
Fitting all three real Challenge times into Session 4 proper required borrowing 5 extra minutes (per your instruction), extending the Warm-up + Session 4 portion from 130 to 135 min. To keep the day ending exactly at 17:00, that 5 minutes was taken back out of “Combining All the Sessions,” which now runs 40 min (16:15-16:55) instead of 45.
